Hi, I’m April — co-founder of Grounded in Thyme, mom, wife, eternal softy, and a deeply feeling human who overthinks just about everything. I’m on a mission to slow life down, get back to nature, and focus on what truly matters: family, connection, and living a simpler, more intentional life.

Now listen… my tagline may sound calm and serene, but I am absolutely not calm — and that’s exactly why I love this space. It a reminder that busy families (and not-so-calm people like me!) can find doable ways to reconnect with their roots without the pressure of perfection.

I live with what I lovingly call my “Squirrel ADHD” — the kind that sends me down rabbit holes of new ideas, endless to-do lists, and sudden urges to fix twelve unrelated things at once. My brain can feel overwhelming, anxious, and loud, but I’ve learned to channel that intensity into showing up fully for the people and things I care about most.

Before Grounded in Thyme, I spent 13 years in the nonprofit world as an Executive and Financial Administrator — juggling spreadsheets, deadlines, meetings, and plenty of fires to put out. During COVID, what felt like a whim (but was really a leap of faith) led me to launch an Etsy shop that grew into the top 1% of sellers. It proved that someone who worries a lot and gets distracted easily can still build something meaningful with heart and commitment.

In November 2025, an unexpected layoff from my longtime nonprofit role shook me to my core — emotional, scary, and full of uncertainty. But just one week later, my dear friend and visionary co-founder Kathy invited me to join her in building Grounded in Thyme. The timing felt like more than coincidence; it felt like the path I was meant to take next.

Now I get to pour everything I’ve got into this space — my creativity and business experience, my fierce loyalty and work ethic, my ability to pivot fast when life throws curveballs, and above all, my deep care for creating something authentic.

Around here, you’ll find the things I love sharing most:

  • Simple, comforting recipes our family actually makes on repeat
  • Practical budgeting tips and deals that stretch your dollars without skimping on joy
  • Easy DIY projects & crafts that make home feel warm and personal
  • Honest, real-life family moments — the messy, emotional, beautiful ones

I’m happiest surrounded by family and friends… or quietly hiding with a bag of chips (my undisputed favorite food and unofficial love language).

Grounded in Thyme is a welcoming spot for anyone craving a slower, more meaningful life — no farm required, no perfection needed. It’s where real life is celebrated exactly as it is: imperfect, heartfelt, and rooted in what matters most. A place to come home to, breathe a little deeper, and remember you’re not alone.

Welcome to my kitchen, my garden, my chip-loving, big-hearted world.
Care is non-negotiable. Snacks are always mandatory.

I’m so glad you’re here.
