I’ve been on this steady mission to swap out as many store-bought products as I can—because the ingredient lists are getting longer and the chemicals… nope. Making my own room spray is one of the easiest swaps I’ve ever done, and honestly, it works better. Plus, you know exactly what’s floating around in the air your family is breathing.

Basic Room Spray Recipe

You’ll need:

  • 1 cup distilled water
  • 2 tbsp witch hazel OR vodka (helps the scent last longer)
  • 20–30 drops essential oils of choice
    • Fresh: lemon, rosemary, eucalyptus
    • Cozy: vanilla, lavender, bergamot
    • Holiday: peppermint, fir needle, cinnamon bark

Instructions:

  1. Add witch hazel or vodka to a 4–8 oz glass spray bottle.
  2. Add your essential oils.
  3. Fill the rest with distilled water.
  4. Shake before each use.
  5. Spray around the room, onto linens, or anywhere that needs a refresh.

It’s like stepping into a cozy farmhouse kitchen where the windows are open, the herbs are drying, and everything feels calm and intentional.
