Fruit Simple Syrup for Mocktails

Basic Fruit Simple Syrup Recipe (Swap Any Fruit!)

This is your go-to base recipe. You can swap the fruit for whatever you love or have on hand.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 to 1½ cups chopped fruit fresh or frozen

Instructions

  • Add sugar, water, and fruit to a small saucepan.
  • Heat over medium, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves.
  • Let the mixture gently simmer for 10–15 minutes, lightly mashing the fruit as it softens.
  • Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes.
  • Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a jar or bottle.
  • Cool completely, then refrigerate.
  • Storage:
  • Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Label your jar with the flavor + date (future you will be grateful).

Notes

Flavor tips:
Want bolder flavor? Let the fruit steep in the hot syrup for 20–30 minutes before straining.
Want the taste of herbs but don't want them to go bad before your simple syrup does?  Cook your herbs with the hot syrup.  
I added mint to my strawberry simple syrup while it was boiling.  It came out amazing!
