Oreo Icebox Cake Recipe

Classic Oreo Icebox Cake

This Classic Oreo Icebox Cake is one of those desserts that looks impressive… but takes almost no effort to make. Layers of Oreo cookies soften into a cake-like texture overnight while the whipped cream turns everything into a cold, creamy dessert people always go back for seconds of. Perfect for summer cookouts, birthdays, holidays, or honestly just because it’s Tuesday and you want dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 family-size package Oreo cookies
  • 2 8 oz whipped topping thawed
  • 1 8 oz block cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: chocolate syrup or crushed Oreos for topping

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Fold in one container of whipped topping until fully combined and fluffy.
  • In a 9x13 baking dish, spread a thin layer of the cream mixture on the bottom.
  • Add a layer of Oreo cookies across the bottom of the pan.
  • Spread part of the cream mixture over the Oreos.
  • Repeat the layers:
  • Oreos
  • Cream mixture
  • until everything is used up.
  • Top with the remaining whipped topping.
  • Crush a few extra Oreos on top or drizzle with chocolate syrup if desired.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, but overnight is best so the cookies soften into that cake-like texture.
